Paying Workers on Time

  1. There is a biblical prohibition for an employer not to pay his workers on time.[1]
  2. If the worker doesn't ask for the payment there's no prohibition for the employer to delay paying.[2] However, some say that there is a rabbinic prohibition to delay even in such a case.[3]
  3. According to the Torah law, a daytime worker should be paid before the end of the following night and a nighttime worker should be paid before the end of the next day.[4]
