- Upon entering the Bet Midrash there’s an obligation for a person to say the prayer before learning (Yehe Ratzon Milfanecha) whether one is learning alone or with others. [1] Some aren’t careful about saying these Tefillot and have something to rely on, yet, it’s proper to say these Tefillot. [2]
- Upon leave the Bet Midrash there’s an obligation to say the prayer after learning (Modim Anachnu Lifnaecha) whether one learned alone or with others. [3]
- There’s many versions of the prayer. If one is learning in a group one should add the line about not rejoice in a friend’s mistakes. [4]
- Most opinions consider these Tefillot an obligation, however, many aren’t so careful about saying them and there’s something to rely on, nonetheless, it’s proper to be careful about saying these Tefillot (so one receives divine help in learning correctly, besides the obligation). [5]
- If one is learning with a Chevruta one should add the line Lo Yismachu Chaverei. [6]
- One Tefillah suffices before learning and one after learning for the whole day. [7]
