There are 613 mitzvot in the Torah. A mitzvah is a commandment from Hashem for Bnei Yisrael to fulfill. In general Mitzvot are broken up into two categories, positive commandments and negative commandments. Another categorization is breaking Mitzvot into three categories: Mitzvot between man and Hashem, Mitzvot between man and man, and Mitzvot between man and himself.
