  1. One of the early commentators on the Shulchan Aruch, the Shach, or Siftei Kohen, is a classic Mefaresh to use in learning Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah and Choshen Mishpat.
  2. He also wrote a commentary on the Tur-Beit Yosef before he wrote Siftei Kohen, and it was lost until being reprinted in late 2018.[1]
  3. Some say in Ashkenaz to follow the Shach over the Taz.[2]
